Directs the operations of the Maintenance function in a manufacturing environment. Plans designs and supervises the reconfiguration maintenance and alteration of equipment machinery building structures and other facilities. At this level the role has increased responsibility including but not limited to additional skills multiple lines/products diverse teams etc.

Key Responsibilities:

Under limited supervision and in accordance with all applicable federal state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson procedures and guidelines this position:

  • Supervises maintenance activities to ensure equipment and tools used for Operations are maintained to meet operational requirements and equipment/process specifications.
  • Delegates and supervises work performed by staff.
  • Establishes and manages work schedules. Develops plans (work scope schedule resource requirements and so forth) for maintenance activity execution required to meet system demands and business objectives.
  • Supervises mentors develops evaluates and coaches staff. Implements performance improvement plans as needed.
  • Provides input to and manages departmental budget. Reviews expenses and implements cost controls to ensure budget is not exceeded. Obtains and evaluates bids from vendors. Reviews expenses and implements cost controls to ensure budget is not exceeded.
  • Oversees for quality and safety of work and timely completion of assigned contract. Interprets Company policies to staff and enforces safety regulations. Supplies input to department policies and processes.
  • Participates on special projects as needed.
  • Monitors production continuously and prepares reports for management. Takes prompt action to correct deficiencies.
  • Serves as the initial escalation contact for issue resolution within the defined area. Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level.
  • Utilizes eCMMS MAXIMO for all related duties with this role to maintain maintenance records.
  • Provides an oversight role in administering maintenance projects. Monitors and maintains project efficiency with emphasis on accuracy and budgeted time.
  • Implements best practices factors performance metrics and leads personnel to exceed world-class performance.
  • Works with contractors and vendors to keep track of performance requirements including cost quality and safety.
  • Prioritizes assigns and coordinates work performed by Technical Services department.
  • Establishes reviews and communicates plans (work/project scope cost schedule resource requirements and risks) for maintenance activity execution required to meet system demands and business objectives.
  • Participates on special projects as needed.
  • Coordinates required reviews and approvals.
  • Responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition if applicable.
  • Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal State local and Company regulations policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate independent understanding and application of core GMP fundamentals including but not limited to: Data Integrity (DI) Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Documentation Practices (GDPs).
  • Performs other duties assigned as needed.
  • Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level
  • Works closely with and often collaborates with Engineering Operations and Quality function(s).

Qualifications:

Education: A minimum of a Bachelors degree and/or equivalent University degree required; focused degree in Engineering or related field preferred.

Required:

  • Minimum of four (4) years of relevant professional work experience
  • Engineering and/or Manufacturing experience
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and organizational skills
  • Competent communication skills both written and verbal
  • IQ/OQ/PQ experience
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks

Preferred:

  • CMMS software experience
  • Experience in the Medical Device industry or medical field
  • Equipment development project management installation and qualification experience
  • Experience in performing non-conformance root cause investigation
  • Lean manufacturing/Six Sigma Process Excellence experience

Other:

  • May require up to 5% domestic and/or international travel
