Job Summary
Description
A leading academic institution is seeking an experienced Internal Auditor with strong experience in risk management internal controls and financial auditing to join their team in Cape Town on a 12-month contract. This is a thrilling opportunity for a professionally skilled Internal Auditor to drive compliance and efficiency across various departments by identifying risks assessing internal controls and recommending process improvements. Responsibilities:
- Conducting financial operational and compliance audits to assess the effectiveness of internal controls and risk management processes.
- Preparing comprehensive audit reports detailing findings and recommendations for management.
- Developing and maintaining audit programs working papers and other documentation.
- Following up on audit findings to ensure that managements corrective actions have been implemented.
- Providing guidance and training to staff on internal controls and compliance procedures.
- Assisting in the development of the annual audit plan and risk assessments.
- Collaborating with various departments to improve efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
- Staying informed on new developments in internal auditing risk management and regulatory compliance.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
- A professional qualification such as CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) or CA(SA) (Chartered Accountant South Africa) is preferred.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in internal auditing risk management or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of internal controls corporate governance and accounting principles (IFRS).
- Proficiency in using audit software and Microsoft Office Suite.
