Job Description
The Lab Technician performs basic technical tests on products and samples. Primary responsibility will be color matching customer samples to fill color requests. Other responsibilities may include preparing and analyzing materials and samples performing basic calculations and cleaning and maintaining the lab.
Job duties include contact with other employees and access confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Companys staff employees and business relationships.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic paint and paint making processes meeting manufacturing specifications
- Perform basic coating formulations applications and physical/performance test methods
- Provide timely and accurate data to help resolve field complaints raw material issues manufacturing problems and support existing and new product development
- Cleans maintains and calibrates standard equipment and maintains a clean and safe working environment.
- Completes appropriate forms and documentation regarding tasks and requests; receives direction from other technicians or chemists on specialized or complex issues.
- Performs basic calculations to prepare and finalize formulations
- Performs basic technical tests based on formulas and project requirements; tasks are more standard and require limited judgment within established guidelines.
- Prepares basic samples materials equipment and other required tools for laboratory tests or development.
- Performs packaging and shipment of customer samples.
- May help design and execute experiments and begin to draw conclusions and make recommendations
- Comply with test methods according to set standards
- Document all formulation processes and complete proper forms and documents as necessary
- Comply with all safety and security regulations and maintain a clean work area
Qualifications
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment (without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment work visa and/or permanent residence status).
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent Knowledge of basic math skills
Must be able with or without reasonable accommodation to determine the difference between colors so you can correctly tint paint to the colors desired by customers.
6 months of lab experience in industry
Computer knowledge for basic inputting communication and data analysis
PC skills; Microsoft Office applications (Word Excel PowerPoint); and other applicable applications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Laboratory work with various extrusion and coil coatings.
Experience with roll coating draw downs and/or spray application.
1 year Industrial lab experience
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 5%
