Job Description

Title: Respiratory Therapist

Location: Syracuse NY 13210

Shift: Nights (7:00 PM 7:00 AM)

Preferences: Candidates must have pediatric experience.

Important Notes:

  • Block scheduling is not accommodated

  • Candidates cannot work two assignments simultaneously

Qualifications:

  • Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Respiratory Therapy

  • Active NYS license/registration as a Respiratory Therapist

  • Minimum of 2 years post-A.A.S. degree clinical acute care experience

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Must successfully pass pre-employment health clearance

Duties:

  • Administer positive pressure and aerosol therapy to patients

  • Institute and monitor oxygen therapy

  • Assist physicians in initiating and maintaining continuous ventilation

  • Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) when needed

  • Perform pulmonary function tests

  • Conduct radial arterial punctures

  • Deliver the majority of patient care functions in an acute care setting with minimal orientation and supervision

Skills Required:

  • Experience in the field: At least 1 year

  • Ability to perform acute care respiratory therapy functions with confidence and minimal supervision

  • Strong clinical judgment and patient-care skills
