What are we looking for
We are seeking a Staff Data Engineer who is passionate about Data Engineering Cyber Security and Open-source - as you will work on a Linux Foundation Project Open Cybersecurity Schema Framework. We need someone who can contribute to the development and implementation of robust data solutions and enhance our data capabilities for cybersecurity research. The ideal candidate has a strong background in data engineering building distributed systems over a cloud environment and is comfortable working with large-scale datasets (our cybersecurity platform ingest 9 petabytes of data daily) for research purposes.
What will you do
- As a Staff Data Engineer on our team you will play a vital role in designing building (in Java) and maintaining the data infrastructure required for parsing mapping and ingestion of OCSF Data.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across the entire company including data scientists cyber security researchers product managers etc. as well as collaborate and communicate externally with other participants in the OCSF project.
- Assist in the adoption and extension of OCSF as well as promotion to the OCSF community.
- You will deliver innovative data solutions that will help us continue developing the best threat detection solutions and protecting our customers.
What skills and knowledge should you bring
- 6 years of experience in data engineering data architecture and distributed systems
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java or similar
- Experience with cloud-based technologies such as AWS (our primary) GCP or Azure with Kubernetes and Docker
- Experience with deploying big data technologies such as Apache Spark Hadoop Hive IceBerg and/or Trino
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and technologies
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau PowerBI Grafana or similar
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to develop innovative solutions to complex problems
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly present and explain complex data and models to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience in leading cross-functional projects between R&D and product teams
A plus would be
- Experience in and passion for cybersecurity
- Experience with building and owning Data Governance processes
- Experience in OSS projects
