The difference youll make:
Youll be a critical member of a high performing engineering team working in Agile with the aim to deliver a first in class service to our end customers. You will be participating in the evolution of the Digital platform that will change the bank and how our customers interact with us. Youll play a key role in making sure that our systems work behind the scenes.
It will be down to you to integrate the application with all required systems and services providing a clean and easy to use API. Although your work is usually hidden from the user its crucial as youll be responsible for application functionality performance and scalability. So youll need to know how to write clean modern APIs integrate them with legacy systems and work with databases. You will also collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver robust and scalable software solutions.

What youll bring:
Joining an Agile Scrum team responsible for the BaaS APIs of the organisation to build APIs that can handle thousands of requests per second in a reliable and performant way.
A Software Engineering background with strong proficiency in Java (8 or higher) with a solid understanding of its ecosystems.
Familiarity with modern enterprise frameworks such as Spring Spring Boot Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD).
Hands on Experience with modern tech stack including Java 17 Spring Boot Kafka Docker Kubernetes Terraform and AWS.
Proficient in developing microservices.
Skilled in writing autonomous service-oriented RESTful APIs.
Proven experience working with NoSQL databases.
Proficient in Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices.
Create and maintain technical documentation for applications.
Ensure security and compliance standards are met in all developed software.
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
With numerous features in the pipeline you will be continually challenged and learning as part of a collaborative technology-driven team.
It would also be nice for you to have:
Experience working with event-driven architectures or messaging solutions such as Kafka.
Knowledge of core banking such as customer and product information.
What else you need to know:
This role is based in Milton Keynes.
We want our people to thrive at work and home and also be able to deliver the best outcomes for our customers and to help each other develop. To support this we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 12 days per month (pro-rata for part-time roles).
If you apply for this role in this locations its important you consider your travelling distance time and cost from your home to the office location.

1st Stage Technical Interview this will a 30min technical interview with one of the team
2nd Stage A one-hour formal interview where we will ask both technical and competency-based questions. This can be done virtually or face to face depending on your situation.
