This position offers a dynamic mix of office and fieldworkone day you may be reviewing plans and coordinating with consultants the next youre out in the field conducting inspections and solving construction challenges. A strong emphasis is placed on document management where youll be responsible for organizing tracking and distributing project materials to keep teams aligned and projects moving smoothly. As the connective point between Town staff contractors and consultants youll play a vital role in making sure every detail is accounted for from groundbreaking to final acceptance.

Knowledge in:
The ideal candidate should possess a comprehensive construction industry knowledge base. This includes familiarity with standard building maintenance practices and materials and methods involved with building construction. Additionally the candidate should be versed in construction inspection methods materials testing principles and should be well-versed in the applicable laws standards and regulations governing construction inspections safety ADA compliance and traffic control. Knowledge of stormwater and erosion control management including Best Management Practices (BMPs). A basic understanding of surveying principles along with fundamental building construction principles and practices relevant to a municipal context is expected.
Skills in:
The ideal candidate must have the ability to proficiently read and interpret drawings blueprints plans and specifications. Strong technical proficiency includes familiarity establishing and managing Electronic Document Management System (EDMS) platforms proficiency in Microsoft Office Adobe and Bluebeam software systems. Understanding of BIM processes and the ability to manage BIM related documents. Capable of performing construction management related tasks for building construction projects from project initiation through final warranty period. Furthermore they should have a clear understanding and be adept at tracking responsibilities outlined in Town project construction documents and contracts. Attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and ensure document accuracy. Keeping accurate and timely records is essential with the ability to manage large volumes of documents and maintain systematic filing systems. The candidate must demonstrate the capacity to manage multiple demands meet deadlines and adapt to interruptions unusual requests and changing priorities. Effective communication is a critical skill both in oral and written forms.
Environmental Factors:
Work is primarily conducted in a standard indoor office setting; however 12 hours per day may be spent outdoors. During outdoor activities the employee may be exposed to typical and severe weather conditions. Tasks may involve moderate to high noise levels local travel navigating uneven surfaces such as embankments excavations and/or steel decking and working at heights up to 12 feet on ladders scaffolds or stairs depending on project requirements. Infrequent exposure to chemicals gases fumes dust vibrations and areas with active electrical work may occur during site visits. The role may involve proximity to light equipment operations and rarely working in traffic or traveling out of town. Work may include competing demands multitasking and meeting deadlines.
Physical Factors:
This role involves prolonged sitting or standing (4-6 hours/day) and frequent to constant use of a computer or electronic device including typing for 34 hours daily. The remainder of the day may require walking within Town facilities or construction sites for inspections and progress checks. Duties require frequent grasping fingering and handling materials up to 20 lbs. with occasional lifting up to 60 lbs. and pushing or pulling up to 30 lbs. Regular reaching at various heights and occasional kneeling squatting or balancing are required. The ability to climb/navigate ladders scaffolds stairs etc. and uneven surfaces and use light equipment can be necessary depending on projects. The employee must be able to hear construction-related sounds such as alarms and equipment noises for safety and possess visual acuity for small objects near and far vision peripheral vision and color differentiation.
