Nationwide Insurance is seeking candidates for a Generative AI (GenAI) Intern positions to join the Enterprise Analytics Office (EAO) from May to August 2026 in Columbus Ohio.
EAO Data Scientists support all of Nationwides products by working with business partners to develop integrated end-to-end solutions contributing to company success. We uphold a high standard for methodological rigor using sound statistical inference and robust model validation in our daily work.
As a GenAI Intern you will focus on applying large language models (LLMs) AI agents and agentic workflows to drive innovation and operational efficiency across the insurance value chain. Only Graduate and PhD level candidates will be considered from related majors. Some statistical and/or technical background is preferred.
Desired Experience: Candidates should demonstrate hands on experience with the following:
- Experience with LLMs AI agents and agentic systems
- Experience with NLP deep learning and generative modeling techniques
- Familiarity with vector databases and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines
- Experience with cloud platforms and MLOps best practices
- Proficiency in Python and ML libraries (e.g. PyTorch TensorFlow Transformers Scikit-learn)
- Experience with containerization (Docker) orchestration (Kubernetes) and CI/CD for ML pipelines a major plus
As an intern in the EAO youll be part of a highly collaborative work environment and develop valuable technical and nontechnical skills beneficial to your development as a professional.
Nationwide does not participate in the Stem OPT Extension program. At its sole discretion Nationwide determines whether to offer sponsorship for qualifying positions based on business need and budget. However it is not usually available for entry level roles.
