Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) is responsible for ensuring our products are Safe Reliable Maintainable and delivered on time. Life Cycle Engineering consists of multiple disciplines that support engineering our program offices and our customers. Our Life Cycle Engineering disciplines participate in the total life cycle of our products from conception to deactivation. Our focus area is product support including the following disciplines: Reliability System Safety and Supportability.
What You Will Do
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated System Safety Engineerto join us on theLand & Air Defense Systems (LADS) System Safety teamin Tewksbury MA.
As a System Safety Engineer your responsibilities will include:
- Analysis of engineering hardware mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics assessing for fault tolerance latent hazards and safety requirements compliance.
- Work with system test and tactical operation and maintenance procedures to ensure the proper administrative system safety controls are in place.
- Work across all integrated product teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controls.
- Collaborating with Program Management and government approval authorities from program startup through production to demilitarization and disposal backgrounds
- Performing System Safety Program or Design analyses
- Working with a large system safety program or multiple mid-sized safety programs including:
- Monitoring program technical execution
- Interfacing with stakeholders (e.g. customers program offices subcontractors vendors)
- Preparing Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for Customer Approval
- Briefing safety of the program at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process
- Interpreting system requirements customer specifications and military standards
- Preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program
- Collaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design
Qualifications You Must Have
- Bachelors degree in Science Technology Engineering or Math (STEM)
- This position requires 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships)
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experience in command and control systems and/or weapon combat systems
- Experience with DoD System Safety Programs
- Experience with safety standards (MIL-STD-882 AMCOM 385-17 JSSSEH AOP-52 AR 385-10 MIL-HDBK-454 MIL-STD-1472 MIL-STD-1474 MIL-STD-464 MIL-STD-1425
- Experience producing System Safety Program Plans (SSPP) Safety Assessment Reports (SAR) Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA) and Hazard Tracking Logs (HTLs) and Hazardous Material Management Plans and Reports.
- Experience conducting System Safety Working Groups (SSWG)
- Ensure system safety processes and requirements are properly planned executed and documented during the entire life cycle of weapon systems and oversee the execution of programmatic system safety activities.
- Strong interpersonal and project management skills with the ability to manage a safety program and provide direction to supporting safety personnel
- Experience with Safety Engineering Systems Engineering Software Engineering Electrical or Firmware Engineering.

- Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees as they are essential to the development of our products.
- This position requires ability to obtain a security clearance. The salary range for this role is 55000 USD - 107000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role function and associated responsibilities a candidates work experience location education/training and key skills.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
