Job Overview:
At our New Ulm location we make processed cheese. The work here is fast paced and we reward hard work and strong performance. The greater your performance the more opportunities you will have to work your way up in the company. The Clean & Grind Forklift Operator is responsible for the proper operation of select groups of set up cheese which are not in one area and may consist of different cheese verities & styles (i.e. blocks squares fiber or drums and holdover). This person must have a valid fork truck license. Must be able to plan ahead and anticipate the needs of the line for efficiency in the department. This person must be able to make minor mechanical adjustments. While working as a team member this person will on occasion coordinate the work of others. This person generally works without close supervision and receives brief verbal and written instructions. The daily operation of the job is moderately varied and requires good communication. This person needs and excellent knowledge of holdover blend and cooker scrapings which is key to this job for proper utilization back into the groups. This job requires simple addition and subtraction skills.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Review production schedule for proper varieties running that shift.
- Learn setup board.
- Knowledge of coolers and bay numbers.
- Identify ticket codes and numbers.
- Have knowledge of how holdover is used.
- Transport rings and covers to Raw Materials Dock.
- Prepare square pieces for shipment back to factory.
- Direct Miscellaneous Laborers as to what cheese to prepare for upcoming groups.
- May have to search for holdover or set up cheese in correct locations.
- Responsible for gathering and delivering style tickets to Curdbreaker Operator.
- Operate powder-handling equipment.
- Be proficient with all aspects of SAP.
- Scan cheese to rework and CB1 to PPC correctly
- Check all bays after he or she empties them to make sure all product has been moved properly into SAP.
- Rework rotation or FIFO - First in/First out
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED Preferred.
- Previous Manufacturing Experience Preferred.
- Seeking individuals who work well with teams are goal oriented and enjoy satisfaction in performing a job well done.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds infrequently with or without reasonable accommodations.
