Position Summary

Works under medical supervision to perform and evaluate overnight polysomnograms. Functions independently of direct supervision to safely operate sophisticated medical equipment to record sleep/wake physiology. Supervises and coordinates the activities of the other technicians. Applies the application of recording devices to the patient cleaning/sterilization of equipment and monitoring of polysomnograms. Recognizes sleep pathology when it occurs in the laboratory and responds with the appropriate interventions to ensure patient safety.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Sets up calibrates and monitors recording equipment necessary for PSG MSLT MAD INSPIRE and PAP Tiration to ensure artifact free tracings.
  • Recognizes and records clinical and physiological relevant events.
  • Detects and corrects equipment malfunctions.
  • Interprets polysomnogram data.
  • Interviews patients to obtain sleep history.
  • Handles phone calls; answers questions for patients and physicians.
  • Prepares for patients in high-risk situations as with cardiac or pulmonary problems.
  • Aids in the training of new trainees.
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of other outpatients.
  • Checks inventories and order supplies as needed.
  • Assists with general maintenance and organization of the lab area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Range

$25.30 - $37.94 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including ones qualifications and performance equity with others in the department market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
