Class Summary


The essential function of the position within the organization is to assist the Trial Court Administrator and/or Chief Judge in the organization development and implementation of court services and one or more court programs such as budget development personnel administration purchasing facility management court interpreters alternative sanctions family court court reporting and jury management. This position provides supervision and management oversight of court support staff by assigning and reviewing work conducting performance appraisals and recommending and arranging training. The position performs supervisory duties including hiring and training of court staff and conducts performance evaluations for subordinate staff. The position works independently reporting major activities through periodic meetings.

Education and Training Guidelines

A bachelors degree in business management judicial or public administration criminology or a closely related field. Five years of related experience including two years of supervisory experience.

A masters degree may substitute for one year of the recommended experience. Additional relevant education may substitute for the recommended experience on a year for year basis. Related experience may substitute for the education requirement at the discretion of the hiring authority.

Essential Job Functions

  • Directs and supervises staff including selecting or recommending selection providing guidance and direction training assigning and evaluating work counseling disciplining recommending terminations and conducting termination conferences; prepares periodic employee performance evaluations; reviews and approves timesheets and leave requests.
  • Maintains scheduling of staff or coverage of courts of responsibility including Judicial After Hours Duty Roster.
  • Reviews and audits of invoices; reviews for accuracy of hours reported.
  • Gathers information/data to support periodic and special reports documenting and evaluating activities for the area of responsibility.
  • Performs administrative tasks such as preparing and distributing meeting agendas and minutes; developing and administering budgets for the area(s) of responsibility; managing websites; or preparing correspondence and memoranda.
  • Establishes and maintains effective liaison and communication with SCS staff Clerk of the Court and other parties relevant to the area(s) of responsibility.
  • Develops implements and updates standards policies procedures and staffing needs for area(s) of responsibility.
  • Reviews approves and ensures the accurate maintenance of all records reports statistical data documentation computer data and files for area(s) of responsibility.
  • Attends staff Emergency Management and other professional meetings to exchange information.
  • Attends technical or professional classes workshops or seminars to improve professional skills.
  • Processes Purchase Orders and purchasing requests for the county. Reviews and audits invoices for accuracy and receipt prior to processing payment.
