DescriptionIn accordance with the Vision Purpose and Values and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority( Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reports to the Manager Accounts Payable. Performs general accounting and financial control duties such a receiving employee travel education membership relocation and other reimbursement expense claims; reviews these employee claims for compliance with various internal policies collective agreements and Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) guidelines; and processes payments by operation of a personal computer and related software such as spreadsheets and databases. Also reviews the travel portion of vendor invoices for policy compliance prior to Accounts Payable processing the payments. Responds to inquiries related to travel and expense reimbursement policies and related collective agreement interpretation and CRA guidelines; resolves problems as required; reports unresolved issues to the appropriate person. Performs general clerical functions such as maintaining related files photocopying documents and preparing correspondence memos and reports by utilizing a personal computer and related word processing and spreadsheet software.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Training And Experience
Grade 12 successful completion of a recognized accounting course and two years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
Skills And Abilities
- Ability to key 45 words per minute.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to supervise.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment and software.
