Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant
Location: Toms River NJ 08753
Shift: 8:00 AM 4:30 PM Monday Friday (No Weekends No Holidays No On-Call)
Duration: 3 Months Possible Extension
Pay Rate: $22/hour (W2)
Position Overview
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) provides both clinical and administrative support within a healthcare setting. Responsibilities include scheduling assisting with patient care maintaining medical records facilitating communication between patients and providers and supporting revenue cycle processes. This role requires adaptability professionalism and a strong focus on patient care and compliance with healthcare standards.
Responsibilities
Schedule patient appointments and surgeries/procedures as needed.
Take detailed clinical phone messages for physicians or advanced healthcare providers.
Obtain insurance authorizations for ordered procedures and tests.
Enter orders into the EMR system and prepare prescription refill requests for physician approval.
Maintain tracking systems for test results and ensure timely follow-up.
Assist with maintaining medical charts and electronic medical records.
Support Surgical Coordinator with scheduling chart preparation pre-admissions and consent forms.
Perform Medical Assistant duties (if certified) including:
Venipuncture and EKGs
Collecting and processing specimens
Conducting point-of-care testing
Taking vital signs and preparing patients for exams
Assisting physicians with procedures
Guide patients through exam/procedure rooms assist with mobility needs and provide clear instructions.
Retrieve and edit physician correspondence from dictation services.
Prepare physician mail correspondence and surgical billing packages.
Monitor adjust and confirm patient schedules while ensuring smooth patient flow.
Participate in revenue cycle processes and perform medical scribe responsibilities as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Competencies
Proficiency in medical terminology and knowledge of HIPAA guidelines.
Experience with EMR and billing systems preferred (not required).
Strong adaptability and ability to thrive in changing work environments.
Excellent communication skills; able to convey information clearly to patients and staff.
Strong interpersonal skills with focus on patient satisfaction and teamwork.
Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Time management skills with ability to prioritize and complete tasks efficiently.
Quality orientation with attention to detail.
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of related experience.
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required if performing clinical duties.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
