As Principal Resource Geologist you will be responsible for leading the estimation and reporting of mineral resources managing geological models and ensuring the integrity of geoscientific data and interpretations. You will work as part of Micons Resource Geology Team and be required to collaborate with other technical disciplines.
Reporting to the Technical Services Manager you will be performing a range of duties including but not limited to:
Roles & Responsibilities
- Resource estimation and modelling for mining projects ensuring methodologies are compliant with international reporting standards (e.g. NI 43-101 JORC SK-1300).
- Work with multidisciplinary project teams including geologists mining engineers and processing engineers to deliver high-quality technical reports and resource statements.
- Review validate and sign off on resource and reserve estimates as a Qualified Person (QP) providing expert guidance and oversight during NI 43-101 and similar audit processes.
- Advise clients on best practices in mineral resource reporting regulatory compliance and risk management for exploration and mine development projects.
- Prepare edit and deliver technical reports studies and due diligence assessments for clients and regulatory submission.
- Liaise with clients regulators and other stakeholders to communicate results provide technical expertise and support business development initiatives.
- Contribute technical expertise to project proposals cost estimates and timelines for geological consulting assignments.
- Support internal training and mentoring of junior geologists and team members in resource estimation techniques software use (e.g. Leapfrog Datamine Surpac) and regulatory understanding.
- Ensure adherence to data security client confidentiality and ethical standards in line with consultancy policies and global best practices.
Required Skills Knowledge and Abilities
- Bachelors degree in Geology Earth Sciences or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
- Proficient in geological modelling and estimation software Experience in open pit and/or underground mining environments.
- Excellent analytical communication and project management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality defensible resource models.
- Registered with a professional geoscience organization in Canada to enable Qualified/Competent Person sign-off
- Strong knowledge of geological principles resource estimation methodologies and international reporting standards.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in resource geology including significant experience in 3D modelling and resource estimation.
