Location Status: Work will be primarily performed at a designated field worksite location based out of a central Race Communications worksite. Frequent travel to and work from other Race offices or other off-site locations will be required.

Summary:
The Aerial Foreman will be responsible for leading a team of workers engaged in the installation maintenance and repair of overhead electrical lines telecommunications lines and associated equipment. The foreman will also be responsible for ensuring that work is completed on schedule within budget and in accordance with safety standards and regulations. The Aerial Foreman provides technical expertise guidance and support to the team to ensure that work is completed safely efficiently and to a high standard of quality.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Eligibility for US Employment without sponsorship
- Minimum of 23 years of age
- High School Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred
- A valid California drivers licensesubject to successful verification through a DMV check is mandatory
- Minimum of five years of experience in aerial construction maintenance and repair work
- Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role preferred
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety procedures required
- Journeyman lineman certification or equivalent experience preferred but not required
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
- Ability to work in a physically demanding and hazardous environment
- Must be able to climb poles and work at heights of up to 50 feet
- Ability to travel to multiple work sites work overtime weekends holidays or off hours as needed
- The ability to effectively communicate in English including speaking reading writing and comprehension as necessary for effective job performance and workplace communication
- Proficiency in Spanish Language desirable
Skills:
- Proficient use of MS Office applications including Teams Word Excel and PowerPoint; teleconferencing applications
- Functional use of common office equipment computers and office software
- Ability to distinguish colors and audible tones
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Team Leadership:
- Leads by example and provides effective guidance and direction to a team of aerial technicians linemen and subcontractors in their daily tasks and projects
- Provides clear guidance and instructions to team members ensuring they understand their roles and responsibilities
- Delegates tasks projects and work schedules to team members sets clear expectations and optimizing resource allocation to meet project timelines
- Monitoring the performance of team members offering constructive feedback and addressing any performance issues or concerns
- Training and mentoring new employees facilitating their integration into the team and ensuring they adhere to safety protocols and quality standards
- Conducts regular safety meetings and inspections to ensure that all work is performed safely and in compliance with OSHA regulations
Skills:
- Collaborates with project managers to understand project scope objectives and timelines
- Develops work schedules assign tasks and ensures the availability of necessary equipment tools and materials
- Coordinates closely with other departments subcontractors and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution
Aerial Infrastructure Installation & Maintenance:
- Oversees the installation maintenance and repair of aerial telecommunications infrastructure including fiber optic and copper cables poles and associated equipment
- Ensures compliance with industry standards safety protocols and company policies during all work activities
- Performs hands-on work alongside the team as needed including climbing poles and performing other physically demanding tasks
Quality Assurance:
- Conducts regular inspections to assess the quality of work performed by the team ensuring that installations meet industry standards and customer requirements
- Identifies and address any deficiencies or issues promptly to maintain a high level of quality
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintains accurate records of work activities materials used and equipment inspections
- Generates reports detailing project progress work completed and any incidents or near-misses
Problem Solving & Troubleshooting:
- Collaborates with team members to identify and resolve technical challenges and operational issues that may arise during projects
- Implements effective solutions to minimize disruptions and maintain project momentum
Communication & Customer interaction:
- Communicates project status updates and potential delays to project managers and clients
- Addresses customer inquiries concerns and requests in a professional and timely manner
Continuous Improvement:
- Stays informed about industry trends technological advancements and best practices related to aerial telecommunications infrastructure
- Identifies opportunities for process improvement and share recommendations with leadership
Equipment Operations and Site Maintenance:
- Operates mechanized equipment such as a bucket truck excavators and trencher
- Climbs poles up to 40 feet and operates in bucket trucks with 32 plus ladders
- Manages deployment and removal of traffic control devices to ensure safety in work areas on streets or roadways
- Adheres to and operates within the weight capacity limits specified by manufacturers for equipment and machinery:
- Bucket Truck: 350-pound manufacturers maximum load capacity
- Ladders: 300-pound manufacturers maximum load capacity
Vehicle Maintenance and Travel:
- Maintains vehicle/equipment pre-op/post-op to be prepared to perform required duties
- Maintains a clean driving record as defined by the current fleet insurance underwriter
- Spends a significant portion of the workday traveling in a vehicle visiting various locations and spending time both indoors and outdoors including businesses and/or residents depending on the nature of the job
- May be required to work overtime after hours on weekends for emergencies or be on-call as needed to ensure work is completed
Safety Awareness and Compliance:
- Observes hazards and reports any concerns or accidents to a supervisor or safety professional; participates in the investigation process as needed
- Understands completes and signs off all pre-job safety planning tools at the start and end of the shift; completes all required safety-related paperwork
- Understands and responds appropriately to all safety hazards and warning devices (e.g. back-up alarms smell of smoke fumes odors different colored warning tags warning sirens)
- Upholds a secure work environment by adhering to regulations procedures and company policies ensuring safety standards are consistently maintained
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Adheres to team procedures and guidelines as well as policies outlined in the Race Communications Employee Handbook.
- Provides support in identifying training needs and supports professional development initiatives to enhance team skills and performance. Helps onboard and mentor new team members to ensure they are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to perform their roles safely and effectively.
- Provides support to team members on various team matters ensuring alignment with organizational policies and applicable laws.
- Collaborates with team members to maintain a positive work environment by fostering open communication addressing minor conflicts and escalating issues as needed.
- Helps ensure team members have the tools and resources needed to succeed assisting in tracking progress toward goals and providing status updates as requested.
- Assists in maintaining compliance with company policies procedures and regulatory requirements ensuring team alignment with organizational standards.
- This role does not have direct supervisory responsibilities. The Lead may assist in tasks related to supervision on behalf of the reporting supervisor or manager on duty such as coordinating task assignments timing of shift breaks validating mid-level transactions and escalating disciplinary and performance matters.
