We are seeking an experienced Business Process Analyst/Technical Writer to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by translating complex technical concepts into clear user-friendly documentation that supports mission-critical cybersecurity initiatives.
Position Description: The Business Process Analyst/Technical Writer will help support the Cybersecurity Execution Management Services (CEMS) Task Lead and Team with software technical writing on a dynamic and exciting cybersecurity program for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
Minimum/General Experience: 10 years of experience with business process analysis and technical writing
Minimum Education: Bachelors degree in computer science electronics engineering or related field
Essential Skills/Qualifications:
- Excellent experience creating and maintaining high quality software documentation
- Excellent experience writing use cases
- Excellent experience writing implementation plans
- Above average experience making complex technical concepts easily understandable to a variety of audiences using text and pictures
- Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. SharePoint Teams Word)
- Ability to work in a collaborative team-based environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail skills
- Ability to work in a shift-based environment to support 24/7 cybersecurity operations
- Experience with Zero Trust programs (preferred)

Tasks/activities include but are not limited to:
- Works with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product use case or implementation to draft documentation including use cases documents implementation plans and training documentation
- Produces high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience
- Maintains version control and organization of all documents within approved repository
- Writes easy-to-understand user interface text online help and developer guides
- Creates tutorials to help end-users use a variety of applications
- Creates standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Develops and writes white papers and other ad hoc requests monthly
- Reviews and provides modifications to existing Communication Plans Concept of Operation and Process Asset Library Maps
- Analyzes existing and potential content focusing on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities while providing and implementing recommendations
- Records accurate system requirements as defined by system owner
Compensation & Benefits: The annual projected pay range for this position is $75697.00 - $84915.00 with consideration being given to various factors including but not limited to qualifications experience job responsibilities and geographic location.
