CAREER DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Career Development Specialist collaborates closely with the Employment Services team to design and deploy employment services essential for individuals with disabilities to secure and sustain competitive integrated employment. This involves fostering partnerships with business and community stakeholders nurturing inclusive hiring initiatives expanding vocational programs and offering direct job development assistance to individuals with disabilities. Reporting to the Employment Services Manager this hybrid role entails providing in-person services as required with opportunities for remote work as well.

The successful candidate will possess confidence in delivering tailored support equipping our community members with the necessary tools to navigate the job market and achieve their professional aspirations.
You are a person who is excellent at building a community within business environments while managing a diverse clientele with professionalism. Utilizing outstanding interpersonal and communication skills to build positive relationships within the agency and outside. Well-versed in technology excellent time management and organizational skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work directly with the client and families to monitor and coordinators for program services.
- Provide services in neurodiversity program to include recruiting and screening candidates leading classroom-based instruction evaluating candidate skills job coaching and coordinating with business partners
- Identify and cultivate development of employment opportunities for persons with disabilities
- Participate in networking and job fair events with local employers and persons with disabilities
- Provide face-to-face job development searching and placement activities for persons with disabilities
- Provide TWC-VR employment services to TWC customers in service areas designated in Employment Service Provider contract
- Planning and executing career readiness trainings tailored to individuals with IDD in a workshop and/or classroom style setting
- Maintaining thorough communication with employers co-workers families service coordinators other agencies and supervisor
- Be able to handle a role with strict deadlines and set standards as outlined by HHSC (Health and Human Services Commission) and other grant or contract requirements

- Completion of required paperwork documentation log maintenance and data entry
- Is available to respond to the clients needs and questions provides adequate information for clients about program resources and services
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Hold Bachelors degree or experience providing case management job coaching or support services
- Ability to complete UNTWISE Supported Employment credential and Autism Endorsement within 4 months of hire
- Creativity leadership and strong written and verbal communications skills
- Efficient organization of workload to ensure performance of expected tasks independently and accurately
- Ability to drive locally requires reliable transportation a valid Texas drivers license and proof of auto insurance coverage
- Flexibility some evenings and weekends will be required as scheduled. work schedule may change based on the needs of the individuals we are supporting
- Ability to navigate computer software including Adobe Suite and Microsoft Office and ability to learn new programs
