A Day in the Life

The Manufacturing Engineer II is responsible for providing daily support of multiple product families with specific regard to product quality product cost process development and process improvements safety and project management activities in procurement of new forming grinding laser drilling machineries and development of manufacturing equipment validation documentations. Duties include managing and/or participating in cross functional teams to accomplish project specific goals. This position is in North Haven CT. It is a full-time onsite position.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Team with manufacturing maintenance and quality personnel on a daily basis to review / disposition production defects and provide potential process and/or equipment corrective actions to assure production schedules and quality expectations are met.
  • Provide daily production support to set up trouble shoot repair and monitor manufacturing metal forming grinding and electropolishing related processes & equipment.
  • Review manufacturing equipment and processes for potential improvement using OEE statistical data and analysis of equipment condition then effectively manage change projects.
  • Lead improvement projects by performing engineering studies and design of experiments related to existing manufacturing processes.
  • Review and optimize existing tooling design used in manufacturing equipment by using Creo Solidworks and /or AutoCad applications.
  • Collaborate with toolmakers to determine critical measurements defining tooling failure enabling data-driven improvements to enhance tooling performance and reliability.
  • Create and update product specifications for documentation BOM creation and general ERP support.
  • Prepare and execute process development validation protocols and reports to support implementation of new and upgraded equipment.
  • Support new process development product quality improvement and integration projects.
  • Maintain excellent communications with Manufacturing Quality Maintenance Safety Planning and Metrology departments on an as needed basis.
  • Ability to lead cross functional teams a plus holding successful meetings and distributing timely minutes.
  • Follow established guidelines and management direction with regards to engineering decisions and departmental/company policy.

Required Knowledge and Experience:
Requires a Baccalaureate degree and minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or advanced degree with 0 years of experience.

  • Nice to Have

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or Electro-Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience in automated and manual machine design repair and troubleshooting
  • Basic knowledge of electrical and automation components including robots is a plus.
  • Experience in AutoCad Solidworks and/or Creo applications.
  • Experience in validation (IQ/OQ/MSA/PQ) in a medical device environment
  • Knowledge of GD&T and problem-solving tools: MINITAB SIX SIGMA DOE GR&R CAPA DMAIC
  • Basic knowledge of vision systems such as Cognex and Keyence.
  • Certified Lean six sigma yellow or green belt is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid presentation and computer skills (Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Projects etc.)
  • Project management skills
  • Self-starter self-motivated attitude with the ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work individually and in a team environment.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$81600.00 - $122400.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience certification/education market conditions and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
