Job Description
Join the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County as a Civil Engineer and use your expertise on projects that protect and improve more than 26000 acres of natural areas and recreational spaces.
From stormwater systems and trail networks to streambank restorations and wetland creation your work will support sustainable public infrastructure and enhance the beauty and accessibility of forest preserves across the county. What Youll Do
- Design and prepare plans specs and cost estimates for roads bridges parking lots trails utility systems stormwater facilities and more.
- Conduct site layouts grading plans cross-sections and topographic mapping.
- Assist with permitting through local state and federal agencies.
- Evaluate water resource projects for flood control erosion mitigation and drainage.
- Inspect construction sites for compliance with plans and permits.
- Manage multiple projects and assist with overseeing team members.
What Youll Need
- Must be 18 years of age or older at the time of hire.
- Bachelors degree in civil engineering or related field; 4 - 6 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education training and experience.
- Valid Drivers License in good standing.
- Registered Professional Engineer in the state of Illinois or the ability to obtain licensure within one 1 year.
Medical clearance to wear a respirator. - Understanding of federal state and local regulatory requirements relevant to design and construction projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including word processing and spreadsheet applications AutoCAD Civil 3D for designing and drafting civil engineering plans.
- Well-versed in various modeling programs such as HEC-1 TR-20 HEC-RAS Hydraflow HY-8 etc. for water flow and stormwater management analysis.
- Capable of prioritizing and managing multiple tasks and projects to meet deadlines and objectives.
- Demonstrated success in establishing and maintaining productive working relationships.
- Strong communication skills both verbal and in writing.
- Strong organizational skills to maintain accurate records and data.

- Monday-Friday Full-time
- Starting salary: $88774 - $99965 per year.

Work Setting
Based out of the headquarters facility in Wheaton IL with travel to forest preserve project sites throughout DuPage County.
