Role Overview
This role is your unique opportunity to join our developing risk engineering team and release your full potential. Far from long-established and set-in-stone processes you will proactively participate in building the way our risk engineering works and performs in supporting underwriting processes and loss control. Your imagination will be as important as your experience and communication skills. By successfully collaborating with underwriters and engineers from all offices to create and deliver world-class risk engineering services you will guarantee your international visibility.
Key Responsibilities
As a Construction Risk Engineer you will:
Provide risk engineering services for Construction underwriters in all Everest International offices with a main focus on large-scale construction projects infrastructure and civil engineering.
Support the Everest business by delivering risk assessment and prevention services to facilitate account retention and business growth.
Be a strong sales asset by supporting prospect client-specific sales strategies and activities.
Conduct risk management services including attending client roadshows and meetings conducting site surveys developing risk improvement recommendations performing loss reviews creating account service plans and other work for the Construction department.
Manage external risk consulting service providers.
Develop in conjunction with the underwriting team and the risk engineering function a risk management structure that includes pre-bind assessment reports a risk grading tool loss estimate guidelines (including the use of external modeling tools) and other risk management capabilities.
Be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with key brokers and clients in close partnership with and support of our Lines of Business underwriters in each country and Country Heads.
Develop and maintain service instructions reference materials training guides service tools and standard recommendations.
Develop and manage publications and website content.
Assure the timely delivery of quality work cost-effectively meeting department performance metrics.
Contribute to Underwriting guidelines research and manage emerging issues and assess business opportunities and prospective insured submissions.
Maintain existing value-added services or develop new services to meet customer expectations.
Provide marketing support including materials and presentations. You will deliver technical presentations where required.
Participate in department initiatives and planning sessions to address emerging issues business opportunities and corporate directives.
Effectively communicate with management on all issues both within and outside the Unit as needed.
Interact and coordinate activities with other departments (e.g. Claims Market Management and other lines of business).
Recommend new procedures and programs where warranted.
Monitor regulatory science and technology developments and link them with risk evolution. You will periodically issue Everest technical update bulletins.
Monitor losses to feed the underwriter and risk assessment process and update standard recommendations accordingly.
Work with risk engineering teams dedicated to other lines of business to align processes and share experience knowledge and documents to enhance the global teams expertise.

You have the ability to establish and maintain excellent relationships both internally and externally.
You maintain and develop market knowledge including competitor profiles and products.
You have excellent negotiation skills.
You possess strong judgment and decision-making skills with an ability to use logic rationality and objectivity in your decisions.
You have a commercial attitude.
You have strong communication skills including participating in online and onsite seminars.
You are fluent (both spoken and written) in English. Fluency in other languages (i.e. German or Spanish) would be a plus.
Experience & Qualifications
You have considerable experience in a similar role as a Risk Engineer within the insurance industry.
You have a degree in civil structural mechanical engineering or another relevant discipline.
You have solid presentation skills and experience.
You have the ability to work with large accounts producers and underwriting partners.
You have a working knowledge of Microsoft products including Word Excel Outlook and PowerPoint.
You possess strong writing verbal and interpersonal skills.
