Job Title: Network Engineer
Location: Reno NV
Duration: 6 Month Contract to Hire
Pay $55 to 60/hr
Position Overview:
Responsible for network engineering tasks across power plants substations and corporate facilities in Northern Nevada including both project-based and operational work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install troubleshoot and replace network equipment (primarily Cisco switches replacing Extreme switches) at headquarters power plants and substations.
- Support and maintain Juniper and Palo Alto firewalls including migration from Juniper to Palo Alto at substations.
- Manage and support Cisco wireless networks (9800/9200 APs) guest networks and related connectivity issues.
- Handle Remedy ticketing system for change requests and incident management.
- Collaborate with plant operators electricians and technical teams in noisy industrial environments.
- Travel regularly to remote sites (power plants and substations in the northern Nevada area) sometimes requiring overnight stays.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Strong experience with Cisco switching and wireless platforms.
- Familiarity with Juniper and Palo Alto firewalls.
- Experience with Remedy or similar ticketing/change management systems.
- Ability to work in industrial settings and communicate with plant operations staff.
- Project management skills for large-scale network upgrades.
