Health and Safety Manager Open Cast Mining We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Health and Safety Manager to lead the HSE function at our open cast mining operations based in Mpumalanga. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing implementing and managing health safety and environmental (HSE) strategies ensuring full compliance with statutory requirements and embedding a culture of safety across the site.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and manage the mines health safety and environmental management systems.
Ensure compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act OHS Act and environmental legislation.
Lead risk assessments incident investigations and safety audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Provide leadership coaching and mentoring to HSE teams supervisors and line managers.
Compile and present monthly and annual safety performance reports to senior management.
Oversee training programs inductions and awareness campaigns to promote a strong safety culture.
Liaise with regulatory authorities contractors and external stakeholders on HSE matters.
Drive continuous improvement in safety standards systems and processes.
Develop and monitor the HSE budget and ensure cost-effective implementation of safety programs.
Requirements:
Degree/National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Mining Engineering or related field.
SAMTRAC or equivalent advanced HSE qualification.
Valid SACPCMP Certification
Minimum 810 years experience in Health & Safety within mining with at least 5 years in a management role (open cast experience preferred).
Strong understanding of mining safety legislation risk management and emergency response.
Proven leadership and people management experience.
Valid drivers license.
