The work we do as a practice within the London Employment & Incentives team either makes the headlines or is too confidential to make them. It is high-profile technical and often very sensitive. It gives us access to the most senior people at clients and their stakeholders including Chairs executives and General Counsel.
The practice has a dedicated team for employment and employee particular the Employment practice has a dedicated team of Knowledge Lawyers comprising a Senior Practice Development Lawyer and Managing Associate Knowledge Lawyer (in addition to this role). We also have dedicated marketing advisors to support on external and client-facing projects and materials.
Our team is innovative and creative in its thought leadership knowledge-sharing and learning both internally and in external and client-facing materials.
Know-how and knowledge sharing across the team is a highly valued and respected part of our practice. We hold weekly know-how meetings as a team which are highly regarded well-attended and engaging.
About you
- You have at least 6 years relevant employment post-qualification experience either as a fee-earner or a Knowledge Lawyer/PSL (for overseas-qualified lawyers this would be after any adjustment to account for the UK two-year training).
- You have strong organisational and project management skills and can manage multiple matters proactively both independently and as part of a team.
- You want to work in a team which is collaborative respectful and supportive with an appetite for technical excellence cutting-edge mandates creative thought leadership and entrepreneurial business development.
- You have excellent technical skills including drafting and legal analysis which can be applied to maintaining and producing precedents and thought leadership material.
- You have an ability to follow and synthesize legal and regulatory developments and issues and are able to develop know-how and training on practical and commercial application of such issues.
- You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to work as part of a team and collaborate well with others.
- You have excellent problem-solving skills and an ability to apply law and regulation in a practical way to real-life scenarios.
- You are an engaging speaker with the ability to deliver training clearly precisely and at a level matched to that of the audience.
- You have an interest in know-how systems and a willingness to engage with new technologies and applications.
Your role
This role is offered on a part-time basis three or four days per week and will involve working with colleagues across both sides of the team but with a specific focus on the Employment practice.
You would be working alongside some of the most entrepreneurial intelligent and commercially attuned employment lawyers in the UK market as well as with our colleagues across the world and in other specialist areas.
Your primary focus will be to support the Employment practice in all areas of know-how and learning including:
- identifying and monitoring key legal regulatory and commercial developments.
- responsibility for delivering weekly training to the Employment team together with the other Knowledge Lawyers.
- providing guidance and updates on legal and regulatory issues and developments including contributing to practice area newsletters and resources.
- developing managing and disseminating commercially useful precedents memoranda presentations and training materials.
- identifying developments of particular interest to clients and producing and updating client materials with commentary and analysis.
- responding to queries from lawyers across the global practice.
- supervising trainees on know-how tasks and working with associates on their knowledge and learning contributions.
- enhancing and developing new mechanisms for capturing sharing and communicating know-how.
- representing Linklaters at industry working groups and conferences.
In addition this role also provides the opportunity to get involved in the firms development and our teams adoption of AI and emerging technologies in the legal sector.
