Aestec Services is a trusted partner in construction engineering and maintenance solutions across Central Queensland. With continued growth we are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead our finance function and provide strategic insights that will drive operational and business performance.
About the Role
Reporting to the Business Manager the Financial Controller will oversee Aestecs financial accounting payroll and accounts payable functions ensuring accuracy compliance and integrity of all financial data. You will manage a small capable finance team own the month-end process and drive system and process improvements across our finance operations.
This is a hands-on leadership role where youll partner closely with senior management to support decision-making and ensure the financial health and sustainability of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a small finance team building a collaborative and high-performing culture.
- Deliver accurate and timely financial reports including P&L balance sheet cashflow and variance analysis.
- Own the month-end close process including reconciliations and journals.
- Partner with senior leadership on annual budgets forecasts and cost allocation.
- Review and optimise labour and equipment sell rates to ensure profitability.
- Drive system improvements automation and reporting enhancements in Jobpac and BI tools.
- Manage compliance obligations including BAS FBT payroll tax and statutory reporting.
- Act as key contact for auditors tax advisors and regulatory bodies.
About You
You are a strong financial leader with a proactive approach excellent communication skills and the ability to partner effectively with both operational and executive teams. You enjoy leading a small team while also being hands-on with detail ensuring accuracy and compliance across all reporting.
Skills & Experience:
- 5 years financial accounting experience including leadership.
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting Finance or Business.
- CA/CPA qualification highly regarded (not essential).
- Experience with Jobpac or similar ERP systems.
- Strong Excel skills; BI tools exposure highly regarded.
- Background in construction engineering or project-based environments preferred.
