The Helicopter Mechanic is responsible for inspecting maintaining and repairing FlightCares helicopters according to Federal Aviation Authority and FlightCare Standards. The primary aircraft shall be kept in a constant state of readiness for emergency missions.

As a team member the mechanic will be present at crew briefings at the start of each shift daily at 06:00 hrs. After shift change the mechanic will conduct all the required daily inspections on the primary aircraft (H130). The mechanic will also perform any required scheduled/unscheduled maintenance and comply with all ADs and SBs and any assignments delegated by the director of maintenance.

When not performing daily inspections or daily maintenance the on-duty mechanic is paid stand by wages at the rate of ($18.63) per hour. Schedule is 5 days on 9 days off with 24-hour stand by coverage minus hours worked. If the mechanic is called back to work that CB time is paid at time and a half minimum of 2.75 hours. Mechanics are also paid OT as well as night and weekend differentials.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Helicopter Mechanic is responsible for inspecting maintaining and repairing FlightCares helicopters according to Federal Aviation Authority and FlightCare Standards. The primary aircraft shall be kept in a constant state of readiness for emergency missions.

EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:

Minimum:

  • Factory training in aircraft type AND three years of experience as a helicopter mechanic OR five years of experience as a helicopter mechanic

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

  • FAA Airframe and Power plant Certificate (tracked by the dept)
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Eligible to be insured under the Medical Centers Liability Policy with DMV Report (and minimum age 21)

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:

Demonstrates technical competence. Must work smoothly with FlightCare personnel as well as other hospital employees. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position.
