The role/Te mahi

As a Carpenter in our Trade Services team you will be responsible for the planning and delivery of high-quality construction and building work on the University of Otago Dunedin campus.

You will ensure projects are completed to specified standards in an efficient cost effective and safe manner.

You will be co-ordinating across campus with facility managers departmental staff and contractors on the installation and maintenance of services within buildings.

Successful candidates will:
Be a Qualified Tradesman with experience in maintenance carpentry.
Have experience and practical sound knowledge of the Construction Joinery and Building sector.
Be client centred with a strong service ethic.
Be collaborative with the ability to develop and maintain effective professional relationships with colleagues.
Have comprehensive experience and understanding of the Building Act Construction and Building standards regulations and other regulatory requirements relevant to the duties of this position including Health and Safety requirements.

Property Services is responsible for buildings with a replacement cost of NZ$2.5 billion and more than 22000 hectares of land. With over 3500 University Staff and 20000 students it can be a bit like helping to run a small town.

We deploy support and maintain a wide and exciting array of equipment and facilities including state-of-the-art research laboratories large student accommodation facilities and a variety of multi-use space from teaching facilities through to restaurant and caf venues.

This is a permanent full-time (40 hours per week) position located in tepoti Dunedin. Hours are 7:30am 4:00pm Monday Friday.

The appointment range for this position is $71277 to $85902 per annum. The salary listed is the base rate - Overtime Rates Tool Allowance and Merit Band progression are available.
