Job Description

Candidate must be located in DMV area and able to commute to Stafford VA office.

Our team provides focused agile software development and maintenance for CODIS a mission-critical application for the FBI. Today CODIS is a client server application developed using that supports a database repository of DNA profiles from individuals unsolved crime scene evidence and missing persons. CODIS software allows local state and national laboratories to compare DNA profiles electronically thereby linking serial crimes to each other and identifying suspects by matching DNA profiles from crime scenes to individuals profiles. Additionally the CODIS software is used to assist with the identification of unidentified human remains missing persons and disaster victims

The Mid-Level Technical Expert plays a critical role in providing strategic planning and technical leadership for large projects or significant segments of complex initiatives. This role ensures technical continuity assists in defining strategic direction and develops innovative solutions to complex problems using industry best practices. The expert advises government stakeholders documents technical strategies and supports development teams in successful project execution.


Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic planning for large projects or significant project segments.
  • Ensure technical direction and implementation consistency across multiple development teams.
  • Assist government stakeholders in establishing and maintaining technical strategic direction.
  • Analyze and solve complex technical challenges using industry best practices.
  • Maintain deep understanding of production systems and evaluate impacts of future changes.
  • Advise government decision-makers on best approaches to resolving technical challenges.
  • Document solutions strategies and project plans for implementation by development teams.
  • Guide development teams throughout the project lifecycle ensuring alignment with technical strategy.
  • Identify track and report progress against project milestones.
  • Support preparation of key strategic planning documentation including OMB Form 300.
  • Contribute to performance metrics and deliverables while ensuring project quality standards are met.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • US Citizen withActive Secret Clearance or we can sponsor your Secret clearance.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience; equivalent certifications or proven work experience may be considered in lieu of direct years.

  • CODIS Application Expertise
  • Forensic and Kinship Statistics
  • Population Genetics
  • Ability to apply originality and innovation to broad and complex assignments.
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop methodologies and present solutions independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate with latitude in planning and decision-making.

Desired Attributes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively advise stakeholders and document strategies.
  • Experience guiding and mentoring development teams.
  • Familiarity with federal government processes and technical documentation standards.
