JOB SUMMARY
The Maintenance Technician I is a union position that works as part of a team responsible for the maintenance of all University facilities by providing general labor in the support of the property operations. Technicians are responsible for the completion of work requests maintenance projects and operational assignments. Technicians perform minor repairs to systems and equipment including but not limited to mechanical electrical heating plumbing doors locks windows appliances and surfaces. Technicians communicate with building occupants regarding work requests and complete reports related to all work projects. Technicians perform building inspections preventative maintenance and address other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Complete work requests including but not limited to changing light bulbs installing shelving white boards pictures and other wall hangings unlocking doors repairing plumbing adjusting temperature controls performing routine maintenance on HVAC and other equipment.
Assist with office renovations painting installing new ceilings walls doorways counter tops etc. Assemble materials using hand and power tools.
Complete maintenance projects alterations and repairs.
Perform minor repairs to systems and equipment including but not limited to mechanical electrical heating plumbing doors locks windows appliances and surfaces in support of University operations including special events.
Perform building and equipment inspections. Comply with all safety standards and codes.
Complete required administrative reporting on inspections work orders and other projects as directed.
Provide oral and/or email communication with building occupants regarding work requests and maintenance projects.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Other duties assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma GED or equivalent.
A minimum of one year of relevant work experience.
Ability to use a variety of tools including tape measure level hand tools power tools etc.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of trade courses or related experience in plumbing carpentry electrical.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
On site work only
Full time 40-hour work week.
12 months
Evening holidays and/or weekend work is required occasionally.
Periods of high work volume at the beginning and end of school year during special events and
summer and winter University breaks.
Exposure to hazardous materials loud noise and extreme heat/cold possible.
Extensive physical requirements such as climbing standing stooping and walking
Heavy lifting and carrying (over 50 pounds)
On-call work required
Work Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Saturdays there is an option to work 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.)
