We are looking for aProcess Automation Software Engineer (Co-op Student)for ourOttawabased team. The position requires an on-site presence.

The position requires an on-site presence. We can accommodate four eight or twelve-month co-op terms.

4 months: January 2026 - April 2026

8 months: January 2026 - August 2026

12 months: January 2026 - December 2026

What Youll Be Doing

Develop hardware drivers for new instrumentation and test equipment using C# Rust and React.

Develop cloud-based data management solutions using python and Google Cloud Platforms.

Run manufacturing tests to characterize and validate new products.

Analyze test data to identify patterns and root-causes of failures.

Solve complex problems in multi-disciplinary teams.

Receive leadership and communication training from senior staff.

What Were Looking For

Recommended Education:

3rd/4th year undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Engineering Engineering Physics or equivalent.

Skills:

To be successful at Lumentum you will need excellent communication and problem-solving skills. We value generalists who attack problems from first principles. You will have:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The desire to succeed and to do things right the first time.

The ability to master new skills and apply new tools to old problems.

Experience in algorithms and data structures and object-oriented programming.

Experience in any source-control system: Git SVN etc.

Experience with any cloud provider: AWS GCP Azure etc.
