This Position Is 100% Federally Funded
This position serves as a Public Health Disease Intervention Specialist within the Communicable Disease Branchs Raleigh Regional Field Services Office. The role involves multi-county responsibilities aimed at reducing the transmission of communicable diseasesincluding HIV STIs and COVID-19by locating interviewing and counseling affected individuals and linking them to evaluation and treatment. The role also requires assessing community health risks and supporting providers in applying public health measures.
This position supports the states communicable disease prevention efforts by providing consultation and technical assistance to local health departments hospitals correctional facilities and other partners. It contributes to the success of disease control programs through timely field investigations outbreak response and consistent application of CDC and NC public health protocols.
Locating and interviewing individuals diagnosed with or exposed to infectious diseases.
Conducting partner services case investigations and counseling to reduce disease transmission.
Performing field testing including phlebotomy and rapid diagnostic procedures.
Documenting investigative actions in NCEDSS per process standards and confidentiality policies.
Providing consultation and technical support to healthcare and community providers on CDC guidelines.
Responding to outbreak investigations and participating in Rapid Intervention Outreach Teams.
Analyzing case data to identify transmission trends and recommend public health interventions.
Maintaining relationships with community-based organizations correctional centers and LHDs.
Assisting in investigations of potential violations of disease control measures.
Participating in required training meetings and regional office coverage as needed.
