The County of Riversides Flood Control Department has an opportunity for an Engineering Technician I/II who will be assigned to the Surveying and Mapping division in Riverside.
The Engineering Technician I/II will be trained to complete several different tasks including processing point clouds working with LiDAR editing photogrammetry mapping projects mapping/editing underground utilities and various work in the photo lab. This position is mainly in office work but the Engineering Technician I/II will have to occasionally make field visits.
The Engineering Technician I is a natural progression underfill for the Engineering Technician II. Incumbents are eligible to promote to Engineering Technician II upon successful completion of their probationary period which would include a satisfactory performance evaluation and any additional qualification requirements.
This position follows a 4/10 schedule Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.Competitive candidates will possess experience in land surveying or photogrammetry along with significant experience using complex software applications preferably CAD programs such as Bentley GIS or Autodesk and a strong background in reviewing and working with construction plans Candidates with experience flying drones processing drone data and working with maps of any kind are also desired.

Engineering Technician I
$25.77 - $40.48 Hourly
$53602.96 - $84195.70 Annually
OPTION I
Experience: Two years of sub-professional civil engineering experience. (Completion of college level courses from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or closely related subjects to the assignment such as land surveying soils erosion soils testing blueprint reading mathematics computer graphics or hydrology may substitute for the required experience on the basis of 12 semester or 18 quarter units equaling one year of the required full-time experience.)
OPTION II
Certificate: Valid Certificate of Registration as an Engineer-in-Training or Surveyor-in-Training issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers may substitute for two years of sub-professional engineering experience.

$32.07 - $45.00 Hourly
$66698.27 - $93598.61 Annually
Other Requirements
License: Possession of a valid Class C California Drivers License is required for traveling to various inspection sites.
Physical environment
The Engineering Technician I/II will perform physical work outdoors throughout the year in Riverside County and be exposed to inclement weather. Some duties will be performed on construction sites on uneven/sloped surfaces. Inspections may involve getting close to the ground and ascending to inspect work or materials at higher elevations.

Pre-Employment
