Global Energy Management (GEM) is one of the business units of ENGIE. Its mission is to provide a comprehensive range of services related to energy and risk management to other business units within ENGIE (notably renewable or flexible energy generation assets) as well as to third party clients (e.g. banks investment funds utilities large industrials B2B customers). By providing these services GEM is a key enabler of the energy transition

Within GEM the Commercial Expertise Center (Commercial EC) has the global oversight role supporting the Business Platforms to ensure the highest quality of products provide a consistent global overview of client commercial performance create transversality share expertise and common practices and assure that GEM keeps focused on clients and counterparts needs.

Through its organisation GEM is able to cover most of the key geographical markets. Within GEM Business Unit GEM UK manages assets and product portfolios related to power gas and emissions in the UK markets actively supporting the countrys ambitious path to a net zero economy.

Objectives

  • To develop GEM UK trading activities by originating high value power gas and environmental attributes transactions
  • To expand GEM UK origination franchise through deal making activities on upstream and downstream renewable PPAs structured gas and power transactions and flexible assets
  • To contribute to the maximization of the value of the asset portfolio of GEM UK including renewables transport storage and contract flexibility

Added Value in Organisation

  • To generate commercial margins and provide a significant contribution to the profitability targets of the business unit
  • To develop and secure incremental revenue streams from client origination transactions
  • To find new value opportunities on gas and power assets in changing energy markets
  • To increase Engie Group expertise and recognition in Energy Management and the Energy Transition area

Responsibilities

  • Entertain commercial relationship with a portfolio of counterparts with the goal to increase the occurrence of deal making and the profitability of credit lines
  • Contribute to the expansion of the gas and power structured transaction business on top of GEM UK existing portfolio and capabilities
  • Work with traders and originators in the team in order to develop innovate and define new gas and power products and services in line with customers needs exploring and leveraging new areas of value
  • Actively contribute to define the growth strategy around renewables asset management and trading portfolio

Background

  • Master Degree
  • Solid experience (6 years) in a senior portfolio management activity and/or senior structured origination function in the European gas and/or power business
  • Demonstrated experience in negotiating and transacting gas and power structured products including gas storage virtual power plants and renewable upstream and downstream PPAs
  • Specific knowledge of UK gas and power markets and environmental attributes
  • Well connected with various gas and power counterparts (industrials utilities banks trading houses etc)

Operational Skills

  • Structuring Sales and Negotiation skills
  • Analytical and quantitative skills
  • Good understanding of the drivers of gas and power markets (price market design asset characteristics players)
  • Ability to work well as part of a team of traders and originators

  • Commercial orientation Negotiating and communication
  • Creativity Structuring
  • Deal making: decision maker solutions finder driven by results
  • Team player (excellent social skills and ability to operate in a demanding environment)
