The Position
- The City of Yuba City is currently recruiting for a Senior Accountant!This recruitment will close on Monday September 15 2025 at 5PM (PST).Under general direction supervises plans trains oversees and performs the more complex and responsible professional accounting duties that involve the application of independent judgement and discretion in the analysis and application of accounting principles and practices in maintaining fiscal controls and records and preparing transactions; prepares a diverse range of financial documents and reports; and performs related duties as assigned.
This is the full supervisory-level class in the Accountant series that exercises independent judgment on diverse and specialized accounting with accountability and ongoing decision-making responsibilities associated with the work. Incumbents are responsible for planning organizing supervising reviewing and evaluating the work of assigned staff and for organizing and overseeing day-to-day financial processing reporting and recordkeeping. Incumbents provide professional level support to the Accounting Manager in a variety of areas. Performance of the work requires the use of independence initiative and discretion within established guidelines and scope of practice.

Education and Experience:
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
Education:- Possession of a bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting financial management public administration business administration or a closely related field.
- Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in accounting fiscal operations payroll governmental and/or fund accounting or a closely related field including two (2) years of lead responsibility.

NOTE: Written testing is the next phase of the recruitment process for this position. It is a mandatory step in the process. The testing date is tentatively scheduled to occur the week of September 22nd. Please plan accordingly.
