Senior Data Platform Engineer

DeLaval is now looking for a Senior Data Platform Engineer to join our Data Platform Team. This team is a part of Digital Services Unit of DeLaval.

The Digital Services Unit leads DeLavals transition to offer cloud-based services to bring unique value to dairy farmers dealers partners and its own organisation. We are on an exciting journey of connecting farms to the cloud. Through data collection in combination with machine learning we can create new and innovative solutions helping the dairy farmers all around the world.

Purpose of role and key responsibilities

As a Platform Engineer you will be responsible for designing building and maintaining a scalable secure and cost-efficient data platform on AWS. You will work closely with data engineers data scientists and product teams to enable the development of Data and AI products. Your focus will be on infrastructure automation and platform capabilities that support both technical and non-technical users

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain a self-serve data platform using AWS services Terraform and Kubernetes
  • Implement and manage data mesh principles to support domain-oriented data ownership
  • Design and support medallion architecture (bronze silver gold layers) using Databricks
  • Develop and orchestrate data pipelines using Apache Airflow
  • Implement data governance practices including cataloguing lineage and access control

Required qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelors or masters degree in computer science information systems engineering or equivalent
  • Experience working in agile/scrum delivery teams
  • Experience with Airflow deployment on AWS EKS.
  • Experience with deploying Databricks in AWS
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS services (e.g. S3 Glue Lambda IAM EKS Redshift) with the last 5 years working with AWS Cloud Infrastructure
  • Experience of working with multi account cloud infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in Terraform Infrastructure as Code (IaC) CICD
  • Understanding of Data Lakehouse and Medallion architecture
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes setup and operations
  • Knowledge of Data Mesh concepts and implementation
  • Programming skills in Python
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
