GENERAL DUTIES SUMMARY:
Under direction of teacher performs a variety of duties to assist students staff and administrators.

- Make some independent judgments within prescribed policies and procedures
- Use good judgment in a variety of situations including emergencies
- Work with a variety of students and demonstrate a willingness to gain the information and training necessary to work effectively
- Possess the characteristics and understanding to be an effective member of an educational support team
- Comprehend and follow oral and written instructions and complete work within established time lines
- Communicate with appropriate student age group requiring the exercise of both empathetic and disciplinarian approaches
- Maintain a confidential non-preferential manner an non-judgmental attitude towards the students staff and program
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor staff and general public
- Learn and implement policies for students of program employee is responsible for (see duties and responsibilities for specific job)
- Remain current on job requirements by possessing a willingness to attend training classes or workshops
- Intervene and separate quibbling toddler size children
- Spanish preferred
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES
- Implement developmentally appropriate practices
- Keep current on department issues
- Learn and state guidelines that govern department
- Schedule meetings and maintain working relationships including but not limited to CCD Visiting Health Nurse Teen Parent Care Manager School Staff Early Intervention.
- Keep licensed staff and administrators advised on any concerns or issues regarding children teen parents and parents of teen parents
- Work with students and their children in a nurturing positive non-judgmental non-preferential manner
- Maintain strict confidentiality as pertains to students children families programming and staff
- Plan and implement daily routines of children and assist with direction of program
- Implement department/school discipline guidelines
- Remain flexible during periods of change or reassignment
- Maintain sanitation and health standards
- May meet infant and toddler individual needs including but not limited to diapering changing feeding play times and napping
- Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Two years of experience working in an Early Childhood Education and/or preschool setting
- Oregon Drivers License or ability to get to and from work in a timely manner and perform the essential functions of the position
- Medic First Aid Card (must be certified within the first 60 days of employment)
- Other certifications/trainings as required to execute the Essential Functions and Duties and Responsibilities of this position (i.e. blood sugar testing bee sting dispensing of prescription medication)
- All employees must be able to communicate in an effective manner. Employees with English as a second language must be able to communicate their need for clarification and/or interpretation of directions. Employee should be willing to attend English class as requested by supervisor.

- See near and far (i.e. constant observation of students) discriminate colors (i.e. teaching colors)
- Hear sufficiently to perform the essential functions of this position (i.e. understand speech which may be difficult to understand listen for distress signals)
- Stand and walk in playgrounds/classrooms for one to two hours at a time
- Lifting 20-50 lbs occasionally and 0-20 pounds frequently
- Pull/push occasionally (wheelchair vacuum student restraints defiant student gait trainer and stander)
- Frequently crawl kneel climb and bend in cramped spaces on same level as student (toilet load bus machinery control pick up trash assist student in bathroom)
- Balance upper body and hand/wrist movement frequently (i.e. assist with student balance coordination write grab reach stretch)
- Occasional exposure to household cleaning type chemicals glues etc
- Constant exposure to blood and body fluids (i.e. spitting feeding changing biting)
- Exposure to bees pollens head lice may occur occasionally to frequently
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is a 9 month assignment on theGrange of the Classified Job Schedule.

A new employee shall be allowed up to (4) four years experience on the salary schedule based on actual years of experience on a job of like responsibilites and skills. The highest hourly rate for a new employee would be $22.45 per hour.
