We are looking for a Senior Consultant (GJA 18) for our Global Sustainability Expertise team within our Global Sustainability department.
The team
The Sustainability Expertise team delivers core expertise to our entire organisation on Climate Nature and Human Rights (the core themes of our Global Sustainability Direction).
Were looking for a candidate who can help deliver and act as a Program Lead for our Decarbonization approach which includes our approach on financed emissions and emission intensity (Terra).
Roles and responsibilities
Act as first contact point for the (Sr) Consultants in the Expertise team and relevant internal stakeholders within organisation with regards to the FE and EI (methodology and implementation thereof in the organisation)
Lead the end-to-end coordination and have oversight on the execution of Terra (FE/EI) and ensuring alignment with INGs strategic objectives and regulatory expectations.
Develop and implement methodologies to quantify impact once developed make sure the implementation lands within our operations organisation; work with relevant internal stakeholders within and outside Global Sustainability to coordinate and oversee this work.
Translate stakeholder needs and requests for implementation into practical advice and actions/objectives for (specific parts of) the organisation.
Manage and improve (if needed) the governance around FE and EI/Terra methodologies measurement and reporting in such away that it meets expectations for internal KPI monitoring and external (audited) disclosures and other regulatory expectations.
Initiate and coordinate cluster overarching activities and be the liaison for the team towards other departments (within and outside Global Sustainability).
Act as one of the Cluster Leads within the Expertise team and within that capacity support the development of methodologies and approaches for INGs sustainability strategy.
Deliver sound expertise and work together with theme lead and consultants to develop new methodologies
Support the Leads in connecting Climate with the other sustainability themes Nature and Social (Just Transition) and work together with the theme Leads and SPOCs on creating the interlinked strategy and the execution thereof.
Pro-actively make suggestions towards internal stakeholders how to improve on our climate objectives.
Support the shaping and influencing of (upcoming) standards and regulation (e.g. deliver input for consultations and/or share views on impacts thereof internally).
Lead internal and external working groups where ING works together with other organisations to create coalitions for action.
How to succeed
Sound expertise of our decarbonization approach (Financed emission (FE) and Emission intensity (EI)) and how the theme is relevant for a Financial Institution through work-experience and education.
Leadership skills to guide others: functionally steer on results and outcomes and coach others on skills and capabilities.
Strategic stakeholder management skills to act as ability to connect with internal stakeholders on the methodologies used for FE and EI; set up and maintain a good governance around both methodology applications and execution.
Strong programme management skills ability to (let the team) deliver within strict deadlines and report on progress while working on multiple projects/topics at the same time and deliver high-quality results.
Understand relevant sectors for ING and understand the needs for clients in these sectors to move drive down emissions and move to net zero.
Flexible and adaptive mind set as sustainability is in a constant transition being able to see changes coming and preparing the team to adapt to these changes.
>7 years of relevant working experience (preferably within financial institutions or relevant consultancy).
