Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. Mainframe/Java Developer to support our IRS client in New Carrollton MD. The selected candidate will be responsible for the development testing and maintenance of enterprise-level software applications. This role requires expertise in both mainframe and Java development and the ability to collaborate with government personnel and project teams in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

The Sr. Mainframe/Java Developer will:

• Maintain and enhance existing software programs by designing developing testing and debugging applications using Java 11 SQL and JCL.

• Translate business requirements into detailed program designs and specifications.

• Develop and deploy Java components or full JEE application functionality.

• Create test plans perform unit integration and regression testing and develop automated test scripts.

• Participate in design/code reviews and prepare release documentation.

• Maintain and upgrade source code ensuring compliance with IRS development methodology.

• Develop custom adapters to integrate legacy systems with service-based framework infrastructure.

• Provide full life cycle support for applications on Z/OS and Red Hat Linux environments.

• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in Agile sprints.

• Prepare documentation diagrams and technical reports as required.

Qualifications Required

• Bachelor s Degree from an accredited institution.

• Active IRS MBI clearance and IRS-issued laptop (laptop will be provided).

• Minimum of 7 years related experience in software development.

• At least 1 year of direct IRS experience in a similar role.

• Strong experience with Java 11/JEE JCL Java Batch Mainframe development.

• Familiarity with Agile methodologies CI/CD pipelines Lambda expressions Generics and SOA principles.

• Proficiency in web services messaging protocols (REST RPC SOAP WS-*) schema design and JMS.

• Strong communication collaboration and documentation skills.

• Demonstrated experience in performance tuning optimization and working with GOTS/COTS products.

Preferred

• Knowledge of Assembler Language (ALC) and advanced JCL scripting.

• Experience with DB2/SQL ENDEVOR and IBM mainframe development tools.

• Familiarity with Red Hat Linux OS and enterprise application servers (Tomcat WebLogic WebSphere JBoss).

• Experience with Drools BRMS JBoss Middleware stack or similar technologies.

• Knowledge of SOA implementation and integration with managed file transfer protocols (FTP SFTP HTTPS TLS).

• Experience with Rational Team Concert and Rational Suite tools.

• Background in IRS Enterprise Life Cycle (ELC) processes policies and procedures.

• Experience with Spring JPA Spring Batch and big data technologies.
