Job Description

To reinforce our team in Bern Switzerland we are seeking a
PhD Position in Computational / Evolutionary Biology

The project focuses on using longread sequencing data for population and conservation genomics particularly in endangered species like Zingel asper. The position offers collaboration with leading researchers and access to cuttingedge genomic resources. The role involves developing and implementing reproducible pipelines for population genomic analyses analyzing wholegenome resequencing data of Zingel asper and contributing to research in conservation and comparative genomics. It also includes collaboration with the Earth BioGenome Project and the European Reference Genome Atlas as well as close work with researchers at the Naturhistorisches Museum Bern and the Institute of Ecology and Evolution.


Profile requirements
The position requires a strong background in nextgeneration sequencing (NGS) analysis along with experience in population genetics and/or evolutionary biology. It calls for motivation to work in interdisciplinary and collaborative research settings and proficiency in English which is the working language of the group.
