About Group Communications

Group Communications (GC) is responsible for shaping and safeguarding Roches reputation and voice at the global level. We communicate Roches strategy and purpose Doing now what patients need next to internal and external audiences building trust engagement and understanding. We lead integrated campaigns steward the corporate brand and create platforms that enable effective consistent and audience-focused communication.

The Role

As Head of Senior Leaders Communications you will lead the strategic engagement and communications for Roches most senior leaders. Your mission is to enable them to be trusted and effective communicators helping to align inspire and connect employees around our purpose and strategy.

You will be acting as a strategic advisor and communications coach. You will shape the communication environment that allows our leaders to lead with authenticity clarity and impact both in planned enterprise moments and in response to dynamic business needs.

This is a highly collaborative and visible leadership role within Group your role you will join the Internal Engagement People Leadership Team (IE PLT) as well as lead and develop a team of five experienced communication professionals working together to deliver high-quality content strategic counsel and enterprise-wide leadership engagement initiatives.

Your Responsibilities

  • Strategic Communication Leadership: Develop and execute strategic communication approaches for senior leaders ensuring alignment with enterprise goals and cultural transformation. This includes engaging and enabling them as authentic communicators through tailored content coaching and compelling engagement opportunities.

  • Executive Advisory & Content: Act as a strategic advisor to CLT members and senior sponsors providing communication counsel and editorial support for high-stakes engagements. Oversee the development of messaging for internal broadcasts and leadership moments.

  • Engagement Program Design & Execution: Collaborate with Group Communications and People & Culture to design and lead a communications program for Roches top leaders..

  • Partnerships & Integration: Partner with other Group Communications and Internal Engagement teams to integrate senior leader communications into wider campaigns and enterprise initiatives. Build and nurture strong relationships with partners in People & Culture Strategy and divisional communications teams.

  • Feedback & Improvement: Establish mechanisms for feedback and listening to improve leadership communication effectiveness and employee connection.

  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead and manage a team of five senior communication professionals providing direction setting goals fostering collaboration and supporting their growth and development. Role-model inclusive and collective leadership fostering a team culture of innovation excellence and impact.

What you Bring

  • Educational Background: You hold a degree in Communications Public Affairs Journalism Organizational Development or a related field; a Masters degree is a plus.

  • Experience: You bring a minimum of 10 years of experience in corporate or executive communications with a strong track record of supporting C-level leaders in large global organizations. You have deep experience developing and executing executive engagement strategies that build leader visibility credibility and connection.

  • Advisory & Interpersonal Skills: You are a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders demonstrating confidence discretion and emotional intelligence at the highest levels of the organization.

  • Communication Acumen: Your communication skills are exceptionalwritten verbal and visualand you are adept at crafting compelling narratives that inspire align and drive impact.

  • Leadership & Coaching: You are a proven leader with experience managing and developing high-performing communications teams through both stable and transformational periods. You provide clarity and direction in dynamic environments supporting your team through ambiguity and change with empathy and structure. You bring a coaching mindset and a passion for nurturing talent building a culture of trust feedback and shared accountability.

  • Strategic & Collaborative: You think strategically and systemically connecting dots across a matrixed organization spotting risks and opportunities and adapting quickly to shifting priorities. You are collaborative and purpose-driven with strong organizational awareness and a deep belief in the power of communication to connect and inspire.

Location

Preferred location: Basel Switzerland.
In exceptional cases an alternative location may be considered at the companys discretion.
