Machine Shop Supervisor

Job Profile
The Machine Shop Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of CNC and manual machining within Company’s facility specializing in the manufacturing and servicing of pressure control equipment for the Oil & Gas sector. This includes wellhead components valves BOP parts spools and other critical products manufactured and serviced in accordance with API 6A API 16A API 7-1 and API 5CT standards. The Supervisor ensures production efficiency product quality and compliance with HSE requirements while leading and developing the machine shop workforce.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Shop Operations
- Supervise CNC and manual machining of Oil & Gas pressure control equipment and related components.
- Ensure machining processes meet API 6A API 16A API 7-1 and API 5CT requirements.
- Monitor machine utilization productivity and downtime; escalate issues to management.
- Lead troubleshooting of machining issues to ensure on-time delivery.
Workforce Management
- Assign machining tasks plan shift priorities and balance workloads.
- Provide technical support guidance and training to machinists and operators.
- Maintain workforce discipline motivation and team collaboration.
- Conduct performance evaluations and recommend training or upskilling needs.
Material & Process Control
- Coordinate with Planning and Warehouse for release of raw materials and MPOs.
- Ensure proper traceability and documentation of materials and machined components.
- Supervise logistics of handling storage and movement of machined parts.
Equipment Tools & Instrumentation
- Ensure machines tools and fixtures are in proper condition and available as needed.
- Verify calibration status of gauges and measuring instruments.
- Initiate maintenance requests for equipment issues and follow up on repairs.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to machining drawings engineering specifications and quality standards.
- Approve first-piece inspections and oversee in-process and final inspections.
- Drive first-time-right machining and minimize rework or scrap.
- Ensure compliance with API standards ISO 9001 and API Q1 QMS requirements.
HSE & Housekeeping
- Enforce compliance with Company’s HSE standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a safe organized and clean shop floor environment.
- Stop unsafe practices or operations immediately when identified.
Reporting & Communication
- Review and approve daily productivity and performance reports.
- Report incidents deviations and absenteeism to Operations Manager.
- Maintain effective communication between shifts for continuity of operations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
- 8–10 years of hands-on machining experience in Oil & Gas equipment with at least 3–5 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong technical expertise in CNC and manual machining for pressure control equipment.
- Proven experience working with API 6A API 16A API 7-1 and API 5CT standards.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 API Q1 and related QMS systems.
- Strong leadership planning and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to safety quality and continuous improvement.
- Experience in using SAP.
