Were looking for a Software Engineer to become part of this newly formed team. You will be part of a globally distributed diverse team of innovators solving some of the most exciting challenges happening in the global connected aviation ecosystem. This is an ideal role for anyone who enjoys developing software solutions in the Extensible Traffic Management (xTM) field. YOU will play a pivotal role in this high growth and high visibility area of the Collins Aerospace company.

The xTM Engineering group develops prototypes and product concepts exploring topics related to the integration of uncrewed vehicles (drones both large and small) and advanced air mobility (AAM) platforms into the global air traffic ecosystem. This includes services and infrastructure supporting UAS Traffic Management (UTM) and U-Space including flight planning/authorization mission management airspace situational awareness airspace demand capacity balancing and air and ground risk mitigation capabilities.

What YOU will do:

  • You will play a key role in the teams development of software in support research and demonstration activities in the extensible traffic management domain
  • You will drive the design implementation testing and documentation of software as part of broader product development
  • You will collaborate with a globally distributed team members customers and other stakeholders on a variety of services for different markets and use cases to serve the emerging UAS and UAM/AAM markets

Education & Experience:

  • Typically requires a University Degree (or 4 years experience equivalent)

Qualifications you must have:

  • 1 year of experience performing full-stack web services development
  • 1 year of experience with Java or Python
  • 1 year of development on containerized systems and architecture
  • 1 year of experience working with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab Jenkins etc.)
  • 1 year of experience working on relational databases
  • 1 year of experience working on HTTP/REST APIs

Skills we value:

  • Experience in research activities in an air traffic control or UAS related domain
  • 1 year of experience with Angular (or similar)
  • Experience with orchestrations systems (Kubernetes/helm charts Terraform etc.)
  • Experience with publisher/subscriber frameworks (RabbitMQ Kafka etc.)
  • Experience with Python-based web server technologies (Flask FastAPI)
  • AWS administrative experience or general cloud hosting experience
  • Familiarity with geospatial computation/GIS
  • Ability/desire to liaise and collaborate with customers/external entities on collaborative technical efforts
