Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Southwark to assist with the appointment of an Administration Officer on a 2-month contract likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 17.76 - 23.27 per hour

Summary:

The role supports the Homeownership Accounts Team which manages over 14000 leaseholder and 1200 freehold accounts. You will assist Accounts Officers by handling non-technical correspondence responding to customer queries and e-forms and issuing statements and breakdowns. Working under the guidance of Homeownership Managers and Senior Accounts Officers you will focus on straightforward tasks to enable the wider team to manage more complex service charge and arrears matters.

Responsibilities:

  • To maintain appropriate relationships with other departments of the Council external agencies and the community and to develop joint initiatives where these add value to service delivery.
  • To follow all policies and procedures and guidelines in connection with the recovery of income across Homeownership Services.
  • Working in conjunction with the Homeownership Managers (Income)and Income Officers to maximise income using the councils financial and other housing management software packages.
  • To produce reports for the Homeownership Manager (Income) as and when required.

Knowledge Required:

  • Knowledge of the role and duties of a social landlord
  • Understanding of the issues relating to equal opportunities within housing and ways of tackling racism sexism and other forms of discrimination.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and data protection.
  • Knowledge of manual and computer record systems
  • Knowledge of other Council services and statutory and voluntary services likely to be relevant to customers

Essential Experience:

  • Experience of working in a front line customer service role
  • Experience of achieving targets and meeting deadlines
  • Experience of keeping manual and computer records
  • Experience of working in a team
  • Experience of providing support/administrative services

Skills and Abilities:

  • A committed team player honest loyal and trustworthy. Keen to develop and continually improve both on a personal level and in terms of contributing to the performance of the authority
  • A proven commitment to high levels of customer service
  • A sound knowledge of communication and customer care skills
  • Ability to establish good working relationships and communicate clearly at all levels with customers and staff
  • Confident in using bespoke IT systems including the ability to analyse data across a range of financial computerised management systems
  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skills

  • You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
  • You should have right to work in U.K
  • This role requires a Basic DBS
