About the team

Rokus Controllership team led by the Chief Accounting Officer is comprised of a diverse and talented group of professionals dedicated to ensuring financial compliance timely close processes accurate financial reporting and operational excellence across the finance landscape. The SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting group within the Controllership team is a collection of technical accounting experts translating complicated topics into simplified explanations for our business partners and Wall Street. We collaborate cross-functionally with many departments including legal FP&A investor relations communications and the Roku executive team.

About the Role

We are looking for an SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting Analyst to support the preparation of Rokus SEC filings and conduct accounting research on complex transactions. This role ensures compliance with the accounting and disclosure requirements of GAAP while also generating financial insights that influence operational decision-making. Candidates can expect to gain exposure to technical areas such as business combinations strategic investments impairment of goodwill and long-lived assets segment reporting leasing and embedded derivatives.

A successful candidate will have exceptional attention to detail and a demonstrated history of delivering high-quality work products. They will also possess a problem-solving mindset with the ability to develop and propose solutions based on a solid understanding of the accounting and disclosure requirements of US GAAP. This position will be based out of our San Jose office and will report to the Director SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting.

For California Only - The estimated annual salary for this position is between $140000$148500 annually. Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate including but not limited to skill set certifications and specific geographical location. What youll be doing

  • Assist in the preparation and filing of SEC documents including Forms 10-K 10-Q and 8-K ensuring compliance with SEC regulations and US GAAP
  • Conduct disclosure benchmarking against industry peers to support managements disclosure objectives while maintaining compliance requirements
  • Monitor assess and contribute to the implementation of new accounting pronouncements applicable to the company partnering with stakeholders to analyze organizational impacts
  • Support quarter-end processes including documentation of monitoring activities over Rokus strategic investments impairment analyses on long-lived assets and goodwill and segment reporting
  • Assist with technical accounting research and analysis on non-recurring and complex transactions
  • Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders including business operations general accounting tax treasury legal and HR
  • Contribute to special projects or ad hoc tasks as needed

Were excited if you have

  • 4 years of experience at a Big 4 accounting firm or in a technical accounting role at a public company
  • CPA license or equivalent required
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards and disclosure requirements under US GAAP and SEC regulations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools specifically Excel for analyzing large quantities of data and PowerPoint for creating clear and concise presentations
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to self-review work and deliver error-free results
  • A problem-solving mindset with the ability to work independently and propose solutions or alternatives in the face of ambiguity
  • Curiosity and motivation to learn grow and develop knowledge in unfamiliar areas
  • Working knowledge of financial reporting and accounting tools such as Workiva and NetSuite is a plus
  • Experience with XBRL tagging is a plus
