All Athena internships are hosted in-person at our Philadelphia headquarters 20-30 hours a week.
About the Role
As an Events and Experiences Intern youll work closely with seasoned event planners to support the coordination execution and enhancement of both client-facing and internal events as well as corporate events and activations. Youll gain hands-on exposure to event logistics audience engagement strategies and cross-functional collaboration while developing the foundational skills needed to craft impactful and memorable experiences.
As part of the Athena team youll contribute to high-visibility initiatives across diverse sectors with opportunities to take ownership of key event elements and benefit from immersive training and professional development. Working with the Events and Experiences team will allow you to experience entire event life cycles from initial brainstorming to event execution.
About the Program
The Athena internship program immerses interns in a collaborative cross-functional environment where they work closely with teams across creative marketing events operations and data analytics gaining exposure to how departments align to bring projects to life. Our Capstone Project allows interns to collaborate and contribute to real-world initiatives by presenting their proposal to internal stakeholders. Interns are mentored through weekly managerial check-ins and executive support. Athena fosters a culture of support curiosity connection and inclusivity which allows interns to shine.
Our internship program begins in June 2026 and is a part-time opportunity to join the organization for the summer.
Requirements
What youll be responsible for:
- Assist in planning and coordinating logistics for client and internal events.
- Support the team in vendor research outreach and communications.
- Help develop and document event materials such as agendas signage and attendee communications.
- Participate in on-site event execution post-event reporting and internal meetings.
- Contribute to brainstorming sessions for experiential marketing ideas.
- Conduct research to inform and support project strategy development.
The skills and experience you should have:
- Youre a creative thinker: not afraid to think outside the box driven by curiosity proposing ideas and solutions reaching above and beyond to ensure the success of a project.
- Youre a people person: whether its brainstorming with coworkers or working with other departments youre a clear open communicator and youre not afraid to ask for help.
- Youre tech savvy: youre in tune with design trends and you can learn new computer programs and adapt them into your workflow quickly.
- Youve got it together: a fan of calendar invites close attention to detail tight time management and organization skills.
Its a plus if you have:
- Prior experience working directly with clients or supporting brand activations.
- Leadership experience through extracurricular activities volunteer work or team-based activities.
- Exposure to marketing brand strategy or social media planning.
- Proficiency in Excel and project management tools such as MS Project Airtable or Asana.

- Paid Experience: Interns are compensated at$20/hour withbiweekly paythroughout the nine-week program.
- Flexible Scheduling: Interns are expected to work2030 hours per week ideally on a consistent schedule. Hours are coordinated with managers to allow flexibility within the weekly limit.
- In-Person Engagement: This is anon-site internship based in Philadelphia designed to provide immersive real-world experience in a collaborative office environment.
- Professional Exposure: Interns gain hands-on experience withclient-facing work learning key skills inprofessionalism communication and public relations.
- Capstone Project: All interns participate in aCapstone Project where they collaborate across departments to research and pitch a new client opportunity to Athenas senior leadership and CEO.
