Position Summary: The role of the METCO Bus Monitor is to collaborate with the bus driver and METCO staff to assume the responsibility for the safety and behavior of students to and from Boston to the Sudbury Public Schools. Key Duties & Responsibilities: Take attendance each morning and afternoonEnsure that students enter and exit the school bus safelyRemind students to remain seated respect other riders use appropriate language and maintain safe bodiesCommunicate changes in bus arrival times to parents via text message;Communicate with students parents and school staff in a professional and courteous manner at all times;Write incident reports and submit to Principals and METCO DirectorFollow assigned seating plans for students and Bus MonitorWork with METCO staff to re-assign seats as neededAnswer calls from parents and district staff using school provided cell phone regarding delays on arrivals and departures times. (The Director may send text messages throughout the day with updated bus information for students)Distribute flyers and announcements directly to parents at the request of METCO staff;Attend monthly meeting with the METCO staffReport all concerns including student behavior directly to METCO Director and Principal(s) by using established reporting protocolPossess a positive attitude and willingness to work well as a member of the teamRemain on the bus until all students are off the busResponsible for actively participating in training regarding students needs and safetyWillingness to ride both elementary and middle school bus as neededPerform any and/all other duties as assigned by the METCO Director and/or Principal Schedule: M-FElementary School BusMorning Shift: approx. 5:00 AM - 7:30 AMAfternoon Shift: approx. 2:00 PM - 5:30PM Early Release Day Shift: 11:45 AM-2:30 PM Salary: $200 per day/$1000 per week (paid for runs worked) Hiring is contingent upon a successful CORI and fingerprinting clearance. Position will require a specific training plan prior to starting and will be compensated.
