The Coordinator for Student Accessibility and Academic Intervention serves as a critical member of the Student Success Center providing leadership for academic recovery initiatives accessibility services and early alert processes. This role ensures that students receive equitable access to resources timely interventions and individualized support to achieve academic success and degree completion. The coordinator works collaboratively with faculty staff and campus partners to promote a culture of inclusion compliance and student achievement.
Essential Functions
Accessibility Services
Serve as primary ADA/504 coordinator for students with documented disabilities.
Review disability documentation and determine reasonable accommodations in compliance with legal requirements and institutional policy.
Coordinate testing accommodations assistive technology alternative formats and other support services.
Maintain accurate confidential records and facilitate accommodation letters to faculty.
Academic Recovery
Design implement and monitor individualized recovery plans for students on probation academic warning or at risk of dismissal.
Lead workshops seminars and one-on-one meetings to improve academic performance study skills and self-efficacy.
Track and assess progress of recovery students adjusting plans as needed.
Early Alert Management
Administer the Universitys early alert system; triage referrals assign follow-up and monitor resolution.
Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure early alerts lead to timely and effective interventions.
Analyze early alert trends to inform retention strategies and institutional decision-making.
Secondary Functions
Provide training to faculty staff and students on accessibility inclusive teaching and early intervention strategies.
Represent the Student Success Center at orientation faculty meetings and campus events.
Serve on institutional committees related to student retention academic support and equity.
Contribute to Student Success Center strategic planning and assessment efforts.
Specific Job Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of:
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Section 504 and higher education compliance requirements.
Best practices for academic recovery and case management in higher education.
Early alert systems and data-informed retention strategies.

Analytical skills for interpreting student data and assessing program effectiveness.

Qualifications
Required
Masters degree in higher education administration counseling rehabilitation services psychology social work or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in academic recovery disability services early alert or related student support roles.
Proven understanding of ADA/504 compliance and implementation in a higher education context.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
Preferred
Experience at a small liberal arts institution or HBCU.
Proficiency with early alert platforms (e.g. Navigate360) and student information systems.
Training or certification in academic coaching motivational interviewing or case management.
Working Conditions
Primarily on-campus role with regular face-to-face interaction with students faculty and staff.
Occasional evening and weekend work may be required for orientation workshops or urgent student needs.
