Position Description
Position Title: School Nurse
FLSA: Exempt
Qualifications: Must hold certification in nursing
Reports to: Head of School
Terms of Employment: 11 month employee. Work days based on school board approved academic calendar
Essential Job Functions:
1. Provide healthcare for school-aged students by ensuring the health comfort and safety of students
2. Handle the daily health issues that occur with students
3. Assess the status of a students immunization documentation
4. Create health plans for individuals with specific health needs
5. Provide healthcare initiatives within the school
6. Dispense students prescribed medications
7. Provide regular dental hearing and vision screenings
addition to working with students other responsibilities may include making home visits attending conferences completing medical paperwork and attending various school meetings.
9. Provide basic first-aid materials to classroom teachers
Other Job Functions:
1. Abide by state statutes school board policies and regulations.
2. Attend meetings and performs duties as assigned by supervisors.
3. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
4. Maintain accurate complete and correct records as required by law district policy and administrative regulation.
5. Serve on committees as assigned.
