Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Preston to assist with the appointment of a HGV Waste Collection Driver on a 3-month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 14.41 - 18.34 per hour

Responsibilities:

  • Drive HGV vehicles for refuse and recycling collections including skip loaders.
  • Supervise a small team of loaders and drivers during collection rounds.
  • Operate both automatic and manual refuse collection and recycling equipment.
  • Collect and empty wheeled bins food waste caddies sacks and bulky waste items in all weather conditions.
  • Load recyclables such as glass cans textiles newspapers and magazines at speed.
  • Deliver leaflets bins boxes and sacks to households.
  • Use in-cab technology and complete daily driver safety checks.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong awareness of health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work productively and maintain high standards of service.
  • Good communication and customer service skills when dealing with the public.
  • Ability to work overtime and adjust to operational needs.
  • Teamwork time-management and problem-solving skills.

Experience Required:

  • Previous experience driving HGV vehicles (ideally in refuse/recycling or a similar operational environment).
  • Experience supervising or leading a small operational team.
  • Experience working outdoors in varied weather conditions.

Requirements:

  • Valid HGV licence (Category C or equivalent).
  • CPC qualification (Driver Certificate of Professional Competence).

  • You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
  • You should have right to work in U.K
