Open Door Care Network provides health care and wellness programs to individuals and families in need throughout Westchester Putnam and Ulster Counties. A pioneer Federally Qualified Health Center Open Door provides more than 300000 patient visits annually and serves nearly 60000 individual patients who might not otherwise have access. Primary medical care dental care integrated behavioral health care clinical nutrition wellness programs and chronic disease management are the foundation of its clinical programs.

Founded as a free clinic in 1972 Open Doors mission of building healthier communities through accessible equitable culturally competent health care has led to site and service expansions. Today Open Door operates centers in Brewster Mamaroneck Mount Kisco Ossining Port Chester and Sleepy Hollow in addition to eight School-Based Health Centers in the Port Chester and Ossining School Districts a mobile dental van in Ossining and a dental practice in Saugerties NY. We are seeking a skilled and compassionate General Dentist with 3 to 5 years of hands-on clinical experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated proficiency in a wide range of dental procedures and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient-centered care. Prior experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center FQHC is strongly preferred.

Independently perform comprehensive dental procedures including but not limited to

  • Dental restoration
  • Dental palliative treatment for emergency patients
  • Anterior and premolar root canal therapy
  • Extractions
  • Crown and bridge restorations
  • Fabrication and fitting of removable prosthetics
  • Deliver preventive and restorative dental services such as exams cleanings fluoride treatments sealants and endodontic treatments
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and medical history
  • Provide both routine and urgent care including palliative treatments and pulpotomies
  • Collaborate with patients and their families to coordinate care that aligns with the patients overall health and dental treatment goals
  • Maintain accurate up-to-date patient records in compliance with FQHC and regulatory standards
  • Prescribe medications in accordance with clinical guidelines and patient health status
  • Participate in community outreach and dental health education initiatives to promote preventive care and empower patients to make informed oral health decisions
  • Adhere to organizational protocols including Open Door policies and procedures
  • Provide clinical supervision guidance and mentorship to General Practice Residency GPR residents
  • Maintain a high level of organization and time management in a fast-paced clinical environment

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Dental Medicine or Surgery from a CODA-accredited institution
  • Current New York State license without restrictions in New York State before start date
  • Completion of a one-year General Practice Residency or Advanced Education in General Dentistry
  • Prior experience in federally qualified health centers or at an academic setting delivering patient care is desired
  • Excellent diagnostic skills
  • Outstanding chair-side manners: patient-centric with empathy excellent active listening and communication skills
  • Outstanding clinical capabilities and judgment
  • Responsive and comfortable working in a fast-paced high-accountability environment
  • Familiarity with appropriate documentation and compliance for public health dental practices and the ability to adapt to existing electronic health records systems
  • Excellent judgment and ability to prioritize resources where they will be most useful
  • Comfortable receiving and providing feedback and coaching
  • Engaged in lifetime learning and continuous quality improvement
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with a culturally diverse patient and staff population
  • Passionate about providing quality oral health care to low-income underserved residents and those lacking access to health care
  • Proficiency in the Spanish language is desired
